The Institutional Teacher Training Programme, a key component of the University Capacity Development Plan (UCDP), has been established to equip Masters and Doctoral Postgraduate Students with the essential skills required for effective teaching, learning, curriculum design, assessment, and student supervision in higher education.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between research expertise and pedagogical competence by providing structured training that enhances participants’ ability to engage in high-quality teaching and student mentorship. Through this programme, Postgraduate Students, are exposed to evidence-based teaching methodologies, inclusive curriculum development strategies, and effective assessment practices that align with the evolving demands of higher education. Additionally, the programme emphasises the development of supervision skills, preparing participants to guide postgraduate students through the research process.

By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience, the Institutional Teacher Training Programme enables participants to refine their academic skills while simultaneously building their capacity to become competent and reflective higher education teachers and research supervisors. Ultimately, this initiative contributes to strengthening the academic pipeline, ensuring that future generations of university educators are well-prepared to meet the complex challenges of the sector.
