Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Workshop

6 October | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Facilitator(s): Chris Dede
Mode: Virtual Event
Venue: Zoom

What kinds of content, skills, socio emotional abilities, and dispositions can generative AI help teach? AI offers unique strengths for specialised instruction, including infinite patience, 24/7accessability, and the ability to scale support to many more learners than any single teacher can reach. This shifts a critical part of the teacher’s role toward modelling how to think with AI, not simply how to use it.

A powerful way to frame this partnership is Intelligence Augmentation, where AI provides calculative prediction and rapid feedback, and teachers provide applied wisdom, ethics, and context. The National AI Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education has developed practical tools that showcase this complementary relationship in action.

Importantly, AI should empower teachers rather than replace them. Educators bring deep, contextual knowledge from their disciplines and classrooms, which equips them to recognise learner needs, adapt activities, and create inclusive pathways to understanding.
